Built on a Love of Horses, Grown into Something More

Diane, at 12 years old, began working with horses at a local barn where she learned by watching, listening and doing. She gained further experience working at stables in Massachusetts, Iowa and Pennsylvania before opening her own farm. Sunswept Stables opened in March 1988. Diane has shown throughout New England with some top Hackneys. Changing gears, Diane made the decision to share her knowledge and love of horses with others and established a lesson program. Watching her charges, both students and horses, progress in their skills and reaching their personal goals is a great source of pride and fulfillment for Diane. What began as a modest private barn gradually attracted riders who shared that belief — people who wanted more than a place to keep a horse, but a place to truly develop.

Over the years, the facilities grew to meet the demand: a proper arena, well-maintained stalls, dedicated turnout paddocks, and the infrastructure to support serious training. But through every expansion, the founding values never changed. This is still a family operation, and every horse and rider here is treated as part of it.

Today, Sunswept Stables is a full-service boarding and training facility — but it still feels like what it always was: a place where people who love horses come to do right by them.
